There is little evidence that any systematic approach to understanding how people think existed before Aristotle’s contributions – but there are many theories about why he might have been interested in such a field. Some scholars believe it may be because he wanted to know more about himself or even as part of an argument against Plato who denied the existence of knowledge outside our individual minds. Others suggest that perhaps Aristotle simply saw what we now call “psychology”
