Health and safety engineers are responsible for ensuring a safe work environment for all employees and visitors. They design the environments and systems that will keep a workplace as safe as possible to minimize danger, reduce the risk of injuries, increase productivity, create an enjoyable working environment, make sure everyone is aware of their rights and responsibilities in regards to health & safety matters, etc.

Health and safety engineers need to have a wide range of skills. They must be able to design, assess the hazards involved in an environment or situation, evaluate risks associated with those situations, and put measures into place that will keep workers safe from harm – whether this is through ensuring they are aware of their rights and responsibilities at work, etc.

The work may involve carrying out detailed reviews of how different systems and processes are working, to identify any improvements that can be made.

It might also include designing the work environment or making adjustments so it becomes safer for those who will be using it.
